Elizabethtown 2 - Director Cameron Crowe is known for paying very close attention to the soundtracks to his movies. For Elizabethtown, in which he revisits his Kentucky roots, Crowe has put together a low-key album full of gently moaning pedal-steel guitars, fretful mandolins, and men in full sensitive-balladeer mode. Whereas Almost Famous reached for the hedonistic 1970s, Elizabethtown tries to evoke a timelessly rootsy vibe through artists new (Ryan Adams, Wheat) and classic (Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham) alike. Petty, Buckingham, and Kentucky natives My Morning Jacket all contribute new tracks, while Crowe and film scorer Nancy Wilson wrote the theme song, "Same in Any Language," for I Nine to perform. But once again, it's Elton John who pulls the chestnuts from the fire. Just as his "Tiny Dancer" was the clear highlight of the Almost Famous soundtrack, an old Elton epic overshadows the rest of the Elizabethtown lineup. Culled from Sir Elton's 1971 album Tumbleweed Connection, "My Father's Gun" is the kind of superb fake-roots song that paradoxically makes the others contributors sound arch. Go figure.

Desperate for a solution, the California Air Recourses Board (CARB) targets the source of its problem: Car exhaust. Inspired by a recent announcement from General Motors about an electric vehicle prototype, the Zero Emissions Mandate (ZEV) is born. It requires 2% of California's vehicles to be emission free by 1998, 10% by 2003. It is the most radical smog fighting mandate since the catalytic converter. Eager to satisfy the largest car consuming market in the world, GM's EV-1 electric vehicle is launched in 1997 with great fanfare from California consumers. It was the first perfect car of the modern age, requiring no gas, no oil, no mufflers, and no brake changes (a billion dollar industry unto itself.) A typical maintenance checkup for the EV-1 consisted of replenishing the windshield washer fluid and a tire rotation. Fast forward to 6 years later... The fleet is dead. EV charging stations dot the California landscape like tombstones, collecting dust and spider webs. How could this happen? Did anyone bother to examine the bodies? Yes, in fact, someone did. World Trade Center (2006) - Academy Award-winning director Oliver Stone tells the true story of the heroic survival and rescue of two Port Authority policemen – John McLoughlin and Will Jimeno – who were trapped in the rubble of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, after they went in to help people escape. The film also follows their families as they try to find out what happened to them, as well as the rescuers who found them in the debris field and pulled them out. Their story shows how the best in people rose above the tragic events of that day.

Graysmith's books trace the mystery of "Zodiac," a serial killer who terrorized the San Francisco area from 1966 to 1978. The killer committed at least 37 murders and documented his exploits in taunting letters sent to the San Francisco Chronicle. Gyllenhaal will portray Graysmith. Ruffalo will portray the lead investigator in the case, Downey a reporter.
